Since its origins, DRAGADOS has developed strong expertise in ports and maritime works, covering the design and execution of technically complex infrastructures in particularly demanding geographical environments and marine weather.

The experience accumulated over time, together with the use of proprietary technology and the involvement of specialized teams, has enabled participation in major port developments worldwide, turning many of these projects into international benchmarks within the maritime sector.

In total, DRAGADOS has participated in 609 maritime-related projects, grouped into the following main categories:

Port facilities in Punta Langosteira

A Coruña, Spain

The new port facilities at Punta Langosteira involve the development of an outer harbor located in a highly exposed maritime environment, designed to ensure high levels of operational safety and port capacity. The project includes the construction of a 2.11-mile-long rubble-mound breakwater, protected with an armor layer made of 150- ton blocks, reaching 195-ton high-density concrete blocks at the breakwater head. The design was developed for a significant wave height of Hs =49.21 ft, with water depths of up to 131.23 ft at the breakwater head, representing a major technical and construction challenge.

Detached vertical breakwater of Isla Verde

Algeciras, Spain

To protect the new East Wharf, also executed by DRAGADOS, a detached vertical breakwater with a total length of 6,627 ft was constructed. The structure consists of 43 caissons, each with a 111.55 ft height, designed to ensure the stability and operational reliability of the port infrastructure in a highly demanding maritime environment.

Centerm Expansion Project in Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The westward expansion of the Centerm Container Terminal, operated by DP World at the Port of Vancouver, was delivered under a design and build contract, with the objective of increasing the terminal's land area by 15% and strengthening its operational capacity in response to the growing container traffic in Canada. The project has significantly enhanced cargo handling capacity, improved terminal access, and reduced traffic disruption caused by the presence of two railway lines crossing the port area.
