Third Millennium Bridge

Zaragoza, Spain

The Third Millennium Bridge is the largest concrete tied- arch bridge in the world, and has an arch span of 216 meters; its typology is bow-string with concrete bow and deck. The deck is 43 meters wide and is formed by two lateral box girders connected by transverse beams and the slab. The bridge was constructed using the incremental launching method. The deck is suspended by the bow, which has a markedly three-dimensional character because in each one of its ends it is split into two to support the deck.
